Ruaha Safari

Ruaha is Tanzania ’s second largest national park and is home to the largest elephants population in the country. Estimated at some 10,000. About its vegetation and terrain, an escarpment bisects this park, making a neat ecological divide between the Ruaha river valley and the high plateau covered with Miombo Woodland. The recent combination of Ruaha National park with the Usanga Game Reserve formed the largest National park in Africa that covers over 15,000 sq. km. this new park itself is found at the heart of a much larger ecosystem which covers over 40,sq. km. The park has got ‘sand rivers’ which dry up completely during the dry season to the extent that they act as roads for the game to move from water hole to waterhole. Ruaha a visually stunning park has got a gentily moving plateau of about 900m with occasional rocky aot crops and mountains reaching heights of 1900m.
Despite the fact that, the eastern camps get full during the high season, Ruaha experience no visitor numbers as compared to its neighbours in the north of the country. Its large sections remain unexplored in that you can have yourself a place during much of th eyear.
