Ruaha River lodge
Ruaha River lodge, which is believed to be the oldest lodge that Ruaha National Park has. Peter and Sarah Fox manager this lodge, no wonder therefore, in the past no years their family has been visiting the area. The lodge has got a stunning scenery, nearby bods which are filled with crocodiles and hippos plus rapids over which the it looks always have game drinking.
The lodge is build on and around the rocky out crops that surrounds the river bank. The lodge is divided up into two distinct camps each with their own facilities and dining areas tht makes each of them feel personal. The lodge therefore has the new camp which has got ten bandas and the old, original camp which has got eight bungalows.
These bandas which are large have got rooms of good standards with flush toilets, electricity and hot water. They are make of stone and thatch all with a good veranda and plenty of comfy seats.
High on a rocky out crop or on the river bank is where meals are served, the food is wholesome and has a lot of fresh vegetables offered by the family farm in Iringa.
The lodge concentrates more on open-sided game drives which are normally accompanied by a guide and tracker from the local community, although walking Safaris are possible too.
The rive lodge is highly recommended, not because it is not comparable to the more expensive lodges of Jongomero and Mwangusi, but because of its good value for money.
