Ruaha river lodge within the Mwayangi and Nsembe vicinity.
A superb hilltop view welcomes you to the moment you enter Ruaha National Park from Iringa town. Underneath the new disgned bridge, is the striking mix of dark rocky-river which offers you a chance to spot crocodiles, hippos as well as bird life. Immediately after paying the park charges, one enters Mwanyangi, the closest area to Ruaha river lodge, which is just some few kilometers down to the left.

As you continue with the road heading down t the lodge, you pass some rapids called Nyamakuyy rapids which are caused by the underlying terrain of the river bed. The prefrerable periodfor visiting Ruaha is during the dry season, however Travel to Tanzania will hardly sport the rapids if the visit during this season, and this is because of the water levels that tends to be low at that time.

Nsembe is the area on the opposite side that runs down stream from the Ruaha river lodge and it has got very good sighting points. This section of Ruaha has got vegetation of mixed plains, savannah grass, tall palm trees growing near the river with beautiful horizontal landscape, and a mix of thorny trees is between. Going further towards the Msembe area, you can sport the park headquarters that handles all the administrative and logistics work for Ruaha National Park. The park headquarters has also got airstrips where some of light aircrafts form Arusha and Dar-es-salaam arrive and leave.

There are various animal and bird species in this area of Ruaha National Park and so some of them include; Hippos, Batleur Eagles, Defassa waterbuck, lions, Kudus, Von Der Decks and Wild dogs.
