The highest peak is Mt.Stanley in the Rwenzori Mountains which towers at 5109m. Lake Victoria and River Nile create one of the best watered areas of Africa and they hold the records of being the largest water body in Africa and the world’s longest river respectively. Uganda borders with Kenya in the east, Democratic Republic of Congo in the west, Tanzania in the south, Sudan in the North and Rwanda in South Western Uganda.

 The big part of the country is tropical with temperatures ranging around 26 degrees Celsius during day and around 16 degrees Celsius at night. This is highly attributed to the fact that Uganda has a fairly constant altitude with mountains only in the east (the Elgon Mountains) and in the west (the Rwenzoris). However between December and February the temperatures are really high and can go up to 30C. Highlands are also generally cooler during nights. Uganda is crossed by the Equator. Uganda has got so many languages which correspond to the different people therein. Lake Kyoga separates the North from the South; with Nilotic people in the north towards Sudan and the Bantu people within the South East, South West and the Central part of the Country. A new five-star hotel and resort was inaugurated on Hawassa Lake in early April. Lewi General has built an 86-room facility, including stand-alone luxury bungalows, two swimming pools, four conference centers and boat facilities. The limited capacity and low quality of Ethiopia’s existing hotels has hindered efforts to attract higher numbers of tourists in the past. Despite the slow improvement in tourism infrastructure in the country, tourist numbers have been increasing in recent years and an estimated 400,000 tourists visited the country in 2008.

The government aims to attract greater numbers of tourists from emerging economies such as India and China. Both countries have growing trade and economic ties with Ethiopia, and Ethiopian Airlines now offers 14 flights a week to Beijing and Guangzhou, and 12 flights a week to New Delhi and Mumbai. However, although Ethiopia has great natural and cultural assets, it must shed its image as politically unstable and plagued by poverty and famine if it hopes to attract far greater numbers of tourists. Any unrest at the elections due in May would be a major setback to the country’s hopes of becoming a prime Tourist destination.

The United Republic of Tanzania is an autonomous state in the Eastern region of Africa bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on the western side,  Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique on the southern border and then the Indian Ocean along the country’s eastern border. Tanzania is a member of the East African Community (EAC), together with Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda. You probably have always wondered what language is the word “safari”! This is a word that comes from the East African Swahili language and it simply means “voyage”, “travel” or “journey”. This word however has got an Arab origin as is most of the other Kiswahili words.

Another reason why you should give up alcohol is that most birth imperfections that are caused by alcohol exposure usually occur in the first few weeks of pregnancy, usually before you can even know you are pregnant. As soon as you decide you want a baby, you should begin to get in the habit of eating healthier. Slowly begin to cut out caffeine. If you smoke, now is a good time to quit rather than waiting until you have that positive test. Smoking can decrease your fertility and increase your risk of a miscarriage if you are still smoking when you are pregnant.

Another thing you can do is to start taking prenatal or at least some multivitamin supplement that contains at least 400 micrograms of folic acid. You can also begin to add food into your diet that is rich in folic acid such as spinach and other green vegetables, peanuts, and orange juice. You can also start by taking a prenatal vitamin also. These vitamins contain iron, folic acid, and calcium along with vitamin C, D, B and vitamins B6 and B12 also.

Appraise your diet. Begin to eat foods that have plenty of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Lay off the fat and excess sugar. You want to eat foods that have a high nutrient density. Eat at least five portions a day of fruits and vegetables along with protein and iron rich foods like dried fruit, and green vegetables. Try to steer clear of raw fish like sushi, and steer clear of undercook shellfish, meat or chicken. You also want to try to avoid fish that has high mercury content like swordfish, shark, or king mackerel. Cut out any food that has unpasteurized milk in it including cheeses such as brie, camembert, and some Mexican cheese. Also cut out foods that have raw egg in it including homemade cookie dough. In all you do, make sure you augment your water intake and should always be your first drink choice before, after and during your pregnancy. Water helps to flush your system of toxins. Once you’ve gotten your eight glasses in, you can drink fruit and vegetable juices also.
