National parks: Get an ultimate gate away for a holiday into one of Uganda’s wonderful National parks. These National parks include Murchison Falls in Masindi towards the northern part of Uganda, Rwenzori National park in the western district of Kasese, Lake Mburo National park in southern Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National park in the west, Kidepo in the North-west Karamoja region and Mt. Elgon National park in the eastern district of Mbale bordering with Kenya.
Gorilla tracking: This is a special recipe for all the tourists in Uganda because you will not experience this anywhere else. Bwindi impenetrable national park hosts the largest number of mountain gorillas and in south-western Uganda bordering with Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. As you approach it is obvious why it is was named the Impenetrable Forest. The deep river gorges and the towering ridges have remained forested for millions of years resulting in an inconceivable biodiversity. It holds half of the entire remaining population in the world. Tracking through the dense forest is not easy but finding a gorilla is worth the effort and this creates reason enough to visit the area and this is one of the undoubted highlights of any visit to Uganda. Bwindi has at least 90 mammal species, 350 species of birds, 324 species of trees and reasonably huge numbers of butterflies. The terrain is hilly, muddy and can sometimes involve jostling through the rather thick vegetation, therefore be prepared for an tough day which may range from 15 minutes to 8 hours but there is absolutely no doubt that to ramble through jungle and the mountain forest in search of magnificent mountain gorillas is one of the most amazing wildlife experiences in the whole world. Tracking gorillas in Bwindi will require a permit which is currently $500 per person, however this is subject to change. Remember to ge yourself travel insurance.
The chimpanzee sanctuary: This is also another area in Uganda that any nature loving traveler will have to visit to see the amazing chimpanzee. This is a small island in the mighty Lake Victoria called Ngamba Island reserve that accommodates about 40 primates. This is only around 23km from Entebbe International airport.
Mountain camping: For the very adventurous and fun loving travelers. There’s a lot to experience and feel in terms of culture and nature’s original beauty. In the Rwenzori Mountains of western Uganda, mountain climbing, hikes, bungee jumping and biking are all enthralling.
