Ruaha Wildlife Safari
Wildlife of Ruaha
The wildlife at Ruaha National Park can be defined in two words of wild and beautiful. According to people in the tourism industry, the southern parks and reserves of Tanzania such as Selous Game reserve are for seasoned wildlife watchers as they are not plains game. In other words, one needs to really drive in search for the animals and this is due to the bush and Miombo vegetation. The park is said to be having animals like African hunting dogs (painted dogs), the lesser and greater Kudu, the silver back Jackal, pelicans lions, plus Zebras. Of recent, the Tanzania park authorities authorized the ability for visitors to undertake an all day walking safari which is assisted by an armed ranger that accompanies the trip, this factor being an additional to the game viewing vehicle.
The all day walking safari experience enables visitors to explore the Africa wildlife on foot as they continue creating a personalized experience of sporting animals tht norally shy away from humans for example the leopards.
There are other unique animals visitors to Ruaha should look out for other tant positive popular ones of zebras, leopards, lions, elephants and hyenas. The uniqie animals to be boked up for are mainly the African huntitn dog and lesser and greater kudu as tey are going to be discussed further below;
The African hunting Dog: because of their beautiful mixed back, white brown and mustard colors, they are also called the painted dog and although some may call them wild dogs as well, this is a wrong reference. They always appear passive in nature, however, they will have to reach if bothered, harassed and disturbed. It is important still to note that there is no relationship between the common domesticated dog (dogs kept at home) and the African dog. Together in packs of between 6 and 20 they live and are moving form one place to another. In fact, they are noted be spend most of their time in the year moving (nine months) and the only 3 remaining months is when they reduce their movement to a home range. The other impressive information about this king of a dog is that during the early century they were considered to be wild animals who could attack farm animals and birds and hence so harmful to livestock keeping and therefore this factor led to the unfair killing of many of them viewing these animals in action is so hard, and so if one gets the opportunity tosees them one should be considred very lucky.
Lesser and greater Kude: these have got the size of the body that make them be appropriately reffered to. They are normally sight in Ruaha National park and spoting them there is easy, however they tend to be shy and affected by the approach of anything that they feel may be of threat. This beautiful animal which is fight easily like the young male impalas who normally fight using their horns. Taking these animals’ photograph will bring out a prized picture because of their beautiful spirated horns and white stripes.
